The winner of several poetry awards, Cate grew up in a rural area, where she penned her first unpublished story, The Lonely Tricycle. After her children were grown, she and her husband moved to the coast, where she began writing more frequently. Cate says she ventured into writing after working in education, project management, health, and a variety of industries. It  was the loss of a senior role during the 2008 GFC that she suggests was her most life changing moment where she reinvented her career and found her passion, writing poetry, blogs, and articles; eventually finding niche roles in compliance and technical writing.
